Diego Hernando Ortega

Diego is the Founder & Managing Partner of Liberdade Capital and Executive Board member of BlueSites Energy, an investment vehicle dedicated to site aggregation in the renewable energy sector, and SparkWave Energy, a joint venture with Octopus Energy Generation launched to develop and operate C+I industrial self-consumption solar projects on the rooftops and sites of businesses in Portugal. He is also Managing Partner of Bluemint Capital Advisors, a holding company in Portugal. Before Bluemint, he was partner of HM Global Capital LLC, a NYC-based RIA specialized in technology investments and research, and before that, he was Global Head of Equities at Auriga Investors SV, where he was responsible for building its equity division, including operations in Spain and the USA, where he managed a team of over 50 people.

Diego was also managing partner at KISAM, an Investment advisor specialized in alternative assets, and Managing Partner/DoR (Director of Research) at Midas Corretora SVB, at the time Portugal’s largest independent Broker Dealer. Along with his partners, Diego eventually sold the business to BBVA and became Executive Board member of BBVA Midas S.A.; He started in the Cash Equity markets as a Research analyst covering Spanish companies, especially TMT and industrial stocks, at London-based investment banks like Singers & Friedlander, Carnegie AB and Enskilda Corporate, the investment banking arm of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) in Sweden;

Diego has advised a broad range of corporate clients and entrepreneurs, both on the Equity Capital Markets side and from the M&A and Corporate Finance perspective, in sectors such as financial services, real estate & hospitality, business services, TMT, energy, industrial and consumer goods. He has extensive experience in cross border transactions.

He holds a BS in Law from the CEU San Pablo University in Madrid.
